Basics of Fire Mage

In Dragonflight, Fire Mages are granted some of the most memorable Talents and Traits from the past. The Shadowlands Legendary Sun King’s Blessing is making a huge comeback and Blaster Master from Battle for Azeroth. With a very simple Talent Tree which can be used in either Single Target or AoE, Fire Mages are a very strong choice for your upcoming adventures.

Use Rune of Power
Cast Fireball
Use Combustion during your initial Fireball cast
Use Pyroblast whenever Hot Streak procs
Use Fireblast when you have Heating up
Use Phoenix Flames when you have Heating Up
Hard-Cast Pyroblast whenever Sun King’s Blessing occurs
Use Scorch instead of Fireball when Target is below 30% health
Otherwise, use Fireball

General Talent Tree

Most Notable Talents

Rune of Power and Incanter’s Flow are located in the middle of our Talent Tree. Shifting Power, Time Anomaly and Temporal Warp, Dragon’s Breath and Meteor are located in the bottom row and have the most significant impact in our playstyle.

Other Damage Talents

Tome of Antonidas and Tome of Rhonin grant us 2% increased Critical Strike and Haste.

Crowd Control & Utility

Blaste Wave, Ring of Frost, Ice Nova, Mass Polymorph,Slow and all allocated Talents are increasing our Crowd Control. Spellsteal and Remove Curse can be talented to increase our overall Utility.

Defensive Talents

Invisibility, Greater Invisibility, Alter Time, Ice Block, Mirror Image and allocated Talents increase our Survivability.

Specialization Talent Tree

Master of Flame causes your Mastery: Ignite to spread to enemies whenever using Fire Blast.
Combustion is a 2-minute cooldown which increases your critical strike chance by 100% for 12 seconds.
Kindling reduces the cooldown of Combustion by 1 second everytime you crit with most of your abilities.
Pyroclasm grants you a chance whenever consuming Hot Streak that your next non-instan Pyroblast deals 230% more damage.
Phoenix Reborn grants targets affected by your Ignite a chance to take damage.
Sun King’s Blessing causes your next non-instant Pyroblast after consuming 8 Hot Streaks to grant you 6 seconds of Combustion.
Flamestrike leaves a patch of fire on the floor, dealing damage to all enemies.
Living Bomb applies a debuff to your target, which explodes after 4 seconds and afflicts other nearby targets with Living Bomb again.

Stat Priority

Stat Choice for Fire Mage

General Stat Priority for Fire Mage with our Build is:

Intellect
Haste
Mastery = Versatility
Critical Strike

Intellect is your primary stat, meaning that Itemlevel is superior in most cases. Higher Itemlevel will also increase your Stamina and Armor that you gain.

Critical Strike increases the chance for your abilities and spells to deal double damage.

Haste reduces your global cooldown, your time to cast spells, and reduces the cooldown of many abilities.

Versatility grants you a flat damage and healing increase, but also a damage decrease for half of its value.

Mastery grants you Ignite whenever you deal direct damage with your Fire damage. Ignite deals periodic Fire damage.

The further we are getting into the expansion, the effects of diminishing returns start to limit your effective gain of your secondary stats. After reaching 30% (by rating) of any given stat, you will start to receive a penalty that reduces the gain from more of the same stat over this treshold.

Stat priority can differ on every character. Make sure to simulate yourself on Raidbots get the perfect results for you.
