Welcome to the Season 3 Guide for Retribution Paladin in Patch 10.2 – Guardians of the Dream. We will help you to learn and master Retribution Paladin in either Raids or Mythic Keystone Dungeons.

Changes in Season 3
Season 3 has introduced many Class Changes, aswell as a new Tier Set, new Embellishments and more.
Retribution
- Fixed a few targeting issues that caused Wrathful Sanction to trigger multiple times on one Judgment cast. Fixed an issue causing unintentional Divine Purpose and Empyrean Power proc consumption.
- Developers’ note: Due to previous bugs with targeting issues on Wrathful Sanction, the ability was a bit undertuned. Following these bug fixes, we’re retuning the set bonus to better hit our tuning targets for the set bonus. Additionally, with the amount of uptime that the 4-set bonus provides, it was overperfoming in tandem with a few of the Retribution talents located deeper in the tree. We appreciate everyone’s feedback and playtesting and we’ll keep making adjustments to this sets power as necessary over the course of PTR.
- Blade of Vengeance now functions as an addition to your single target Blade of Justice rather than replacing it.
- Fixed an issue causing misalignment between Consecration and Mastery: Divine Bulwark.
Stat Priority in Patch 10.2
General Stat Priority for Retribution Paladin with our Build is:
- Strength
- Haste (until 25%)
- Versatility
- Critical Strike
- Mastery
- Haste
- Strength is your primary stat, meaning that Itemlevel is superior in most cases. Higher Itemlevel will also increase your Stamina and Armor that you gain.
- Critical Strike increases the chance for your abilities and spells to deal double damage.
- Haste reduces your global cooldown, your time to cast spells, and reduces the cooldown of many abilities.
- Versatility grants you a flat damage increase, but also a damage decrease for half of its value.
- Mastery increases your Holy damage by a certain amount.
The further we are getting into the expansion, the effects of diminishing returns start to limit your effective gain of your secondary stats. After reaching 30% (by rating) of any given stat, you will start to receive a penalty that reduces the gain from more of the same stat over this treshold.
Stat priority can differ on every character. Make sure to simulate yourself on Raidbots get the perfect results for you.

Keep in mind that using Elemental Lariat will always trigger the lower-valued stat of your Gems. If you want to trigger the desired stat, you have use the opposite Gem at least once in your Gear.
