Welcome to our Affliction Warlock Guide for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. We will help you to learn and master Affliction Warlock in either Raids or Mythic Keystone Dungeons.
Last Update: 16-03-2023
Affliction Warlocks deal most of their damage with periodic debuffs on their target. This makes Affliction Warlocks very strong in multi-target situations where the enemies are not stacked together. Paired with unique utility like Demonic Gateway, Warlocks are a great choice for your next dungeon or raid.
General Stat Priority for Affliction Warlock with our Build is:
Please read our Rotation and Cooldown section for further information.
Summon Soulkeeper or Inquisitor’s Gaze are granting you an additional damaging ability. Additionally with the Curses in the top row, these will have the most impact in your playstyle.
Grimoire of Synergy grants either you or your pet’s abilities to increase the damage done by the other one by 10% for 15 seconds. Soul Conduit grants you a 10% chance to refund a Soul Shard whenever spent.
Mortal Coil, Shadow Fury and Banish are your Crowd Control abilities. Demonic Gateway can be used by all partymembers to travel between two different locations.
Most of all other Talents in the General Tree are defensive Talents. Most significant ones to note are Soul Link, which causes you to transfer 10% of your damage taken to your pet. Unending Resolve and Dark Pact grant you defensive cooldowns that you can actively use. All other Talents are increasing your defensive in a passive way.
During single-target encounters, Affliction Warlocks will make use of Siphon Life instead of a never ending Corruption. There is just a small difference in damage output, with Siphon Life being the stronger pick. Newer players can still pick the never-ending Corruption to make it easier for them to maintain all other debuffs.
For raid encounters without any add cleave, we are utilizing more talents on the left side of the talent tree, and completly avoid talents on the right side.
Haunt is a great ability, boosting the damage you dealt to them. This also has to be maintained on your target, adding another debuff to your list. Make sure to refresh your debuffs with less then 5 seconds left to benefit from Pandemic Invocation. This talent will deal damage to the enemy whenever you refresh a debuff with less then 5 seconds left, and has a chance to grant you another Soul Shard.
For combats with heavy add cleave, Affliction Warlocks are utilizing the infamous Seed of Corruption. This will apply Corruption to all targets hit. With Corruption having no expiration time, this makes it very easy for you to maintain other debuffs.
Vile Taint creates an explosion on your current target, and applying Agony to 30 enemies in a 10-yard range around your target. With Seed of Corruption additionally increasing the count of Agony by 2 whenever it explodes, this is going to be a quicker way to ramp up your damage, especially in big pulls.
Doom Blossom grants your Corruption a chance to explode for additional damage, if it deals damage to an enemy affected by Unstable Affliction.
Strongest talent for AoE situations is currently Soul Flame. This causes an enemy to explode whenever they die, causing a chain-reaction of dealing a lot of damage to enemies around it.
Darkglare will increase the duration of your current debuffs on all targets by 8 seconds, and also deals 50% of its damage to all other enemies affected by any of your debuffs.

Critical Strike increases the chance for your abilities and spells to deal double damage.
