Pokemon ‘Ancient Roar’ and ‘Future Flash’ Expansion Releases in October 2023

The Pokemon Company has announced the new Expansions ‘Future Flash’ and ‘Ancient Roar’ for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, releasing on October 27th, 2023. 

Both of these Sets are listed as SV4, which means that they are the 3rd large Sub Set of the 9th Generation – Scarlet & Violet. Additionally, new Special Decks featuring Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise have been revealed. These new Decks will release on November 10th, 2023. 

Our friends on PokeBeach have summarized a fantastic overview of upcoming Pokemon Trading Card Products in Japan for 2023:

• June 16: SV2a Pokemon Card 151 featuring the first 151 Pokemon, including the return of Kadabra. It will feature 165 cards before secret rares.
• July 7: SVD “ex Starter Decks” featuring Decidueye ex (Grass), Victini ex (Fire), Greninja ex (Water), Miraidon ex (Lightning), Clefable ex (Psychic), Koraidon ex (Fighting), Houndoom ex (Darkness), Melmetal ex (Metal). A “Random ex Starter Deck” will also release containing one of the decks at random, including two additional secret decks that haven’t been revealed yet.
• July 28: SV3 Ruler of the Black Flame featuring a Tera Darkness-type Charizard ex. It will feature 108 cards before secret rares.
• September 22: SV3a Raging Surf featuring Gholdengo ex, a Tera Water-type Garchomp ex, and possibly Palafin ex. It will feature 62 cards before secret rares. A “Starter Set Terastal Mewtwo ex” and “Starter Set Terastal Skeledirge ex” will also release alongside the set.
• October 27: SV4 Ancient Roar and Future Flash
• Late October: “Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic” Box Set, featuring three decks headlined by Base Set Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise
• November 10: “Special Deck Set ex Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise” featuring three decks headlined by Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, and Blastoise ex
• December: SV4a Shiny Treasure, likely featuring shiny Pokemon
• January (?): SV5 Cyber Judge and Wild Force, possibly featuring Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon
