World of Warcraft: 11.0 Voidlands and Patch 10.2 – All Information about the Future of WoW

Over the last 6 Months, our Team on Stormfate has release many News and Speculations about the Future of World of Warcraft. While many other Content Creators are now dipping into this Topic, we wanted to summarize our Findings.

World of Warcraft Patch 11.0 - Voidlands Expansion

Already posted on January 17th, 2023, we have reported about some clues that have been found in Dragonflight that might hints towards the upcoming Expansion in the Future.

Dragonflight has been released for 2 Months now, and Players scattered out and found rather unrelevant NPC’s which might pack quiet a few informations about the future of World of Warcraft.

There have now been two NPC’s discovered, talking about rather cryptical things about the Light and the Void. But before we start looking into these, let’s take a look into the map of the Elements in World of Warcraft!

This map was shown in regards to the Lore of Shadowlands, listing all the powers of the Warcraft Universe. Many things shown on this map have been known to players to a bit longer.

Reality chained to Emerald Dream and Shadowlands, surrounded by the Elements even currently used in many crafting recipes – Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Decay and Spirit.

But the upper and lower end of this map has rather been a mystery until now – the Holy Light and the Shadow Void.

In previous Expansions, we had some little hints leading up to the next Expansion. In Legion, we had Kul Tiran Soldiers comabting with Zandalari’s in Aszuna.

Two NPC’s spotted in Valdrakken talking about Light and Void

There has been now two NPC’s spotted in Valdrakken, that rather seem unrelevant. They are located in the far east, in a hut which currently has no valuable reason for players to enter. They will sit there for a while without saying anything for a long time, until they finally start talking about something quiet interesting.

Melinor and Ramaniel are both <Timewalkers> which might be a hint that they are already ahead of their time, hinting towards the upcoming World of Warcraft Expansion. Melinor is a Lightforged Draenei, while Ramaniel is a Voidelf, the two opposite Elements on the previously shown map.

They both have the following conversation:

Ramaniel says: Surely you can see the similarities, Melinor. The void shows us a winding road of infinite possibilities – just like the various timelines we are charged to observe.
Melinor says: Your affinity warps your understanding, Ramaniel. The flow of time is akin to the Light itself. It is a central, singular truth that must be preserved against all threats.
Ramaniel says: So quick to presume the void’s influence. Have you never wondered where exactly your Light might lead you? Are you certain you will like what lies at journey’s end?
Melinor says: I suppose only time will tell.

World of Warcraft Patch 10.2 and Season 3

Our Team has always tried to predict the Release Date of upcoming Patches in Dragonflight. While some of them have been very precise, predicting them many Weeks before the official Confirmation of Blizzard.

We are currently speculating that Patch 10.2 is about to be released around October 18th, 2023.

Patch 10.1.7 is going to be released on September 5th, 2023. Once again, we try to give our best estimation about the upcoming releases. We expect Patch 10.2 to release on October 18.

Our Previous Speculations

On June 13th, we have already posted our estimation about the upcoming Patches. Back then, we also took a look towards Patch 10.2, but primarily for the upcoming Patches 10.1.5 and 10.1.7.

As per usual, we are using past-data to speculate an upcoming release of Patch 10.1.5 with the following information:

- Blizzard’s official Roadmap for Dragonflight
- General PTR Time is 6-8 Weeks
- A regular Season lasts two rotations of all Affixes (10 Affix Combination per Rotation) – 20 Weeks
- Previous Patch Release Dates in regards to those information
- Retail and Classic Releases do not overlap

Conclusion

With all of the presented information in mind, we try again our speculation on upcoming releases, which have proven almost accurate in the past. Almost in that context means that we missed the Release Date of Patch 10.1 by almost two weeks, which released earlier then expected. This is because of the grace period granted after each major Content Update before the Season launches. Obviously, there are no complains about Blizzard releasing content earlier then expected, which is in favor of many players that experience a content drought much quicker then others.

We would current speculate the Release Date Patch 10.2 on September 27th, 2023 with Season 3 starting on October 4th. This would be around 8 Weeks after the speculated release of Patch 10.1.7 on August 17th, 2023. This once again would be just 6 Weeks after the Release of Patch 10.1.5 on July 5th, 2023.

Bear mind that the PTR for Patch 10.1 has launched before the release of Patch 10.1.7. This caused the official Patch releases to be just 6 Weeks apart, while a regular PTR cycle of 8 Weeks was achieved.

All of this is just our personal speculation, and is not based on any information given by Blizzard. It’s for your personal entertainment only, and should always be looked at with a certain amount of doubt.

Patch 10.2 Public Test Realms

As during the Patch 10.0.7 Public Test Realms, the launch of the Test Servers for Season 2 have opened even before the Release of Patch 10.0.7. As in our previous Speculation stated:

In the past, even in Shadowlands, a regular Test Phase for any upcoming Patch was between 6-8 Weeks. Especially large Content Updates took up to 8 Weeks, while smaller Patches like x.5 and x.7 took only 6 Weeks after their opening.

With this data in mind, we can already speculate that Patch 10.1.5 is once again in the regular 6-8 Week Testing period. The PTR for Patch 10.1.5 has started on May 17th, 2023. This would put the expected time of release between June 28th to July 12th. Keep in mind that Patch 10.1.5 has already been announced on May 12th which is a Thursday.

With all other information given, this would lead to a Release of the Dragonflight Patch 10.2, and therefore Season 3 Test Servers to be on August 24th, 2023. This allows players to test out the upcoming Season 3 for atleast 8 Weeks before the estimated release date.

New Data – Turbulent Timeways

As during the previous Patch 10.1 Public Test Realms, the new Turbulent Timeways Event was upheld, allowing players to complete each of the 6 Timewalking Events every single week, until the Release Date of Patch 10.1.

For Patch 10.1.7, a new Turbulent Timewalking Event is going to be published, allowing Players again to compete for amazing rewards, like the Shady Shalewing Mount.

If we count 6 Weeks from the Turbulent Timewalking Event, we can estimate that Patch 10.2 is going to be released on October 18th, 2023. This would lead to a 22-Week rotation of Mythic Keystone Dungeons, two weeks later then the previous Season.
